Dear Luan Mao…

After the bite on the leg from Qiu Qiu, Luan Mao seems to be doing fine with the antibiotics and after about 2+ weeks, he is very active and enjoy running on the wheel. Luan Mao also has a healthy appetite and enjoy his daily meal of grains. However, his leg did not seem to fully recover even though he can run very fast on three legs.

To our great dismay, Luan Mao left us after about 3 weeks we got him even though he seemed perfectly alright in the morning The Wife left him.

The Husband was very affected to find him dead when he got home. However, Luan Mao went peacefully without signs of much pain.

Qiu Qiu seems a bit quieter after we moved him into Luan Mao’s old home. Pocket also seem to know that one family member is gone and took to sitting in his cup which now is too small for him.

The Husband took Luan Mao to his workplace and bury him at a patch near a mockup plane on the runway. This means that Luan Mao will be able to see the beautiful sky always.

Rest in peace Luan Mao, we will always miss you and your messy coat of fur….  We will miss your small beady eyes and your running madness on the wheel. please bless all of us from hammie heaven….

The day after…

It was a tough first night to spend after Mochi was gone… The Wife spent the night tossing and turning, hearing the roll of the retro clock in our bedroom sounding just like Mochi when she runs on her wheel. Had dreams about finding a few little hamsters in Mochi’s cage when I looked into it and even in my dream, I remembered that Mochi had already left us…

I havent cried so much in a long long while. Cried when The Wife was eating breakfast, cried when I was on the way to and from the doctor and cried some more uploading her pictures and seeing her empty cage.

This was the sole reason why The Wife did not want to buy it at first. I do not know how to deal with deaths and being apart.

I really miss having little Mochi eating out of my hand and running towards us when we are home from work.

When I get home everyday, they are the first ones I see at the door and talk to even before locking up…. now that one is gone, Pocket is looking very puzzled and every time I looked at it for the past 2 hours, he is staring at the lil tissue box in which Mochi is now lying in. Poor Pocket must also be missing his neighbour and friend….

The only consolation was that she had died in her fave corner, probably in her sleep cos she looked so peaceful.

My dear Mochi, may you really go to hammie heaven as everyone say you would. I hope that you have been a happy hamster while we had you. Please forgive us for not spending more time with you and for not doing more.

If there is a next life, we hope that you could be happier, have your freedom and the ability to control your own destiny.

You will always be in our hearts and we will not forget you….

Mochi died…

It happened too suddenly, I cannot write much now and there is no point finding out why it happened either.

Nevertheless, Mochi has been the cutest bundle of joy for the both of us. Even though we only had a couple of months together, we do hope that she will rest in peace and always look down upon us from where she is with a smile.

Mochi, we will always love you….

We love you for looking so blur all the time

We love you for being so silly

We love you for always eating out of our hands

We love you for running on the wheel so quickly and being spun out from it

We love how you always sit in your little cup and curl up like a little ball when you sleep

We love how you wake up with your sleepy eyes when you hear us coming near

No matter where you are Mochi, we hope that you have been happy while you were here.

Both of us and Pocket hope that you can always be happy and always have all the grains and corn that you can eat.

Rest in peace Mochi…. we will grieve now but one day, you will be remembered with a smile and for all the fond memories….

Mochi is injured!

The Wife and The Husband took leave today, intending to rest and relax but woke up to find Mochi dangling in mid-air, motionless. The Husband thought that she is dead but luckily she just got caught in between the cage door and railings when climbing up and down.

The Husband un-trap her and we rushed her off to a vet called the Animal Doctors in Ang Mo Kio, who was said to be good with small animals.

By the time Mochi got to the clinic, she was active and playing again. Waited for a long while before seeing the vet as there was an injured dog and a rabbit before us.

It took the vet quite a lot of effort to weigh Mochi who was really light and examine her. Seeing that she is active and able to eat and run about, she prescribed Mochi some painkillers and antibiotics and we could bring her home without having to do x-ray.

Finally, we could get some lunch after skipping breakfast to rush her down. Had the Fish & Co set lunch which came with drink, soup of the day, Artic Fish & Chips as well as dessert for $11.95++ which was a reasonably good deal.

The Wife tried to feed Mochi her medication with a tiny syringe which she took in the first shot and start to refuse the second. She used her tiny claws to push it away and finally decided that it was easier to turn round and gave me a bite instead…. Ended up with bloodied finger instead. Now The Wife is the one who need a doctor.

By the second dose at night, The Wife thought about a less painful method of injecting the 0.07ml worth of medicine onto a small piece of bread to feed to Mochi directly…. and she will willingly take it! Hahah.. Such a brilliant idea!
